I'm not a Doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

On Sunday in the NFC, being the number six seed was a good thing…Wearing a number six jersey for the NFC North Champion Chicago Bears was….not a good thing.  A 21-14 loss at home to your archrival could be to blame, but a questionable knee injury that forces you to miss the second half and makes America learn how to pronounce Caleb Hanie is much more likely.  Fans have always had a love hate relationship with former Denver Broncos and current Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler.  Some have even anointed him the air apparent to Brett Favre, given his tendency to throw ill-advised interceptions NOT because he likes to send text messages or retire once a year….
But the message was clear Sunday afternoon, “If you can walk, you can play.”  Whether it was current or former players like Deion Sanders relentlessly questioning Cutler’s toughness on Twitter (Sanders missed nearly two years of his career battling a turf toe injury while Cutler lives and plays with Diabetes) or the nearly 13,000,000 Chicagoans that became licensed doctors on Sunday, to the delight of Cubs fans…Cutler had become the new GOAT in Chicago.

Cutler’s teammates defended him….
but without any medical tests to back Cutler’s claim of a serious injury the question remains, “How injured is too injured?”
During a 21-12 loss to the New England Patriots in the 2008 AFC Championship Game, San Diego Chargers star running back Ladanian Tomlinson sat on the sideline with a parka and helmet on due to a knee injury he suffered the week before against the Colts.  Tomlinson touched the ball three times (he had two carries for 5 yards and one reception for a yard).
This along with (age, declining performance, and delusional salary demands) led to his departure from San Diego...or maybe the Chargers let him go due to his MC Hammer imitation...

So, does Cutler face the same treatment in the Windy City?
Possibly.
It doesn’t seem that he has lost the locker room yet, but leaving the NFC Championship Game with discomfort in your knee is not the way to inspire teammates.  Sure Cutler may know his body better than anyone (except Kristin Cavallari, more on that soon), but this is the wrong time to sit out.

Swim class on a Monday, is a great time to have your mother forge a sick note to the P.E. coach.
“Dodgeball Thursday”, is another perfect time to have Dad forge a doctor’s signature regarding your ailing knee. Because even if Ben Stiller is on the other end, there is never a good time to get pelted in the face by a round red ball.

Surely we will learn more about Cutler’s injury as the day’s progress, but burning his jersey over this…really?

He didn’t take his talents to South Beach…..if there was ever a reason to burn his jersey…THIS is it…

Maybe Cutler just wanted to save himself for the "BIG GAME".....The Pro Bowl...
